AUDITIONS

Hi all!

We're holding AUDITIONS for Comedy of Errors by Billy Shakespeare!

Auditions will be held Thursday, September 13th from 7-10PM and Friday, September 14th from 5:30-9PM, in Rhoads Quiet Study. Each audition will hopefully take around 15 minutes, and you can come by whenever you want.
Callbacks will be held on Saturday, September 15th from 1-4.

Audition materials can be found here! There is also a link in the doobly-doo to the right.

Things to keep in mind:

  • Prepare! Read the script and practice your monologue/dialogue before auditioning.
  • Come to audition whenever is best for you, but keep in mind that there might be a wait. Bring work to do or practice your audition materials while you wait. Talk to the people waiting with you and make some new friends!
  • Callbacks are for the director to see you again, and wether are not you are called back has no bearing on wether or not you will be cast in the show!
  • You will be asked to perform one monologue and one dialogue. You can bring a partner to read the dialogue with you, or someone in the auditioning room will read with you.
  • Fill out your audition sheet (available upon arrival to auditions) with complete honesty to assure that you are happy and comfortable with the role you are offered.
  • Questions? Can't make any of the times listed? Email jlopatin@bmc, the Director!
  • Do you want to do Technical Theater for us? Email maaustin@bmc, the Stage Manager!
We can't wait to see you at auditions!

Gotta Get Back To Bryn Mawr

... where everything is magi-cool!

(If you don't know what A Very Potter Musical is, I highly suggest you learn)

Welp, my summer is officially over. I know most of you have a few more days left but I'm going to be actually at Bryn Mawr in about three hours. Thank god these trains have wi-fi nowadays.

Being back at Bryn Mawr means lots of exciting things for Shakespeare Troupe as well, including

OUR FIRST MEETING OF THE YEAR

I expect you all to be there to do very exciting things like edit our Bible again and talk about Comedy of Errors and probably eat food, because heck, this is Bryn Mawr we're talking about.

WHEN: 8pm on Thursday the 13th
WHERE: Probably Taylor

One of our Co-co's says there will be a SPECIAL SURPRISE for all in attendance. Awwww yisssss special surprises.

Anyway if you find yourself at the Mawr before everyone else gets there, I will be there too, and I will probably see you. Until then, SPT'ers!

Post for Posting / Renaissance Faire Adverts / Reactiongifs

Well obviously nothing much has been happening that I can tell you about. This is just a post for the sake of posting, I suppos...t.

I've been slowly collecting and editing video for our YouTube channel (some curtain calls, and maybe some clips of a show from a couple years ago). I've made a few mock audition posters and even a mock show poster for Comedy of Errors. It is mostly just me brushing up my Photoshop skillz and messing around, but hey, it is something. Maybe I'll make lots and we can all vote on them or something.

I did go to the Bristol Renaissance Faire this weekend. It was a blast, and really got me in the mood to write in the SPT blog. If you have a Renaissance Faire in your area or somewhere you are comfortable driving to, I highly suggest it. I mean, I go every year so of course I suggest it.

This weekend was ... a little different.

MFW Someone told me it was "Steampunk Invasion" weekend at the Faire:
IS NOTHING SACRED?

The Post You've Been Waiting For...

Next year's shows!
Sorry it has taken so long, we just needed to get a few things confirmed. Here they are!

In Fall 2012, we'll be performing

The Comedy of Errors
Directed by Jennifer L.
Stage Manager: Maddy Austin
Assistant Stage Manager: Anu Goedhart

In Spring 2013, we'll be performing

Twelfth Night
Directed by Emily Williams
Assistant Directed by Raminta Holden

The Women by Clare Boothe Luce
Directed by Sarah Gilmour

Luckily all of these shows have movie adaptations/parodies that you can spend some quality time watching while you wait for the exciting school year to begin. Some are better than others. This of course go without saying, but we here at SPT always always advise that you read the plays before auditioning or even doing crew, so you can do that too. I'll post the edited scripts over in a link in the doobly-doo to the right (labeled Online Scripts) when I get them.

I'll also post the audition pieces for tCoE when I get them, probably sometime in the middle of August before we head back to school. So sit tight for that.

There's also something brewing in the distance of SPT... a new endeavor that could possibly be a thing in Fall 2012. Those of you in SPT have heard a couple things about it (or lots of things if you've seen me at a party). But I'm not going to talk about that until it is official. Or until a Co-co (short for Co-Coordinator for all you n00bs) tells me I'm allowed, basically.

Anyway I'll just leave you in suspense while you wait for scripts, audition materials, secret things, updates on pre-production for the upcoming season, and more, throughout the summer.

We're Taking Over the Internet

... or so it would seem.

The official unveiling of this blog just happened, so as a special treat, here's the first look of our first video on the new YouTube channel!

Enjoy this lovely snippet of Man Shop while those of you who aren't already in SPT wait for the announcement of our productions for next year. That'll happen in a short while!

Until then,
Kayla

Calling All SPT'ers (Alums and Current)

I bet you've noticed the rad Flickr photostream to the right on the main page. It has shows from many (well, three) years back, and I'd love pictures from even older SPT shows to put on our Flickr page.

Also, the YouTube channel is begging for footage. I've only got one show and two curtain calls to put on there so far.

So, if you have good footage of SPT shows, or pictures of the shows, please email us at shakespeare.performance.troupe@gmail.com! Also, I'd like it to be as high-kwality as possible, so no 2004 camera phone pictures or the like, please.

Thanks everyone, hopefully we can put together an awesome collection.

We'll Be Up and Running Soon

We promise.

I've been transferring Bibles and Constitutions from the old blog with the horrible interface to this new one that I'm trying to keep as sleek and friendly as blogger can be. I love me some google docs.

Anyway, I'll keep be posting on things that have happened in the last year that we've been mainly on facebook. I'll be pestering directors for updates on their shows. I'll do everything in my power to make you know exactly what is happening in SPT at all times. Stalking is not necessarily out of the question... kidding, kidding. I don't have time for that!

In the meantime, have fun reading the posts from SPT years past. I haven't read them, but I'm sure they're quite interesting.

Adios,
Kayla
