Welcome back and Audition Materials!

Welcome back, everyone!  We hope you're as excited as we are for the two wonderful plays SPT is putting on this fall: the Shakespeare classic As You Like It and the soon-to-be-classic Shakespearean adaptation William Shakespeare's Star Wars based on the book by Ian Doescher.

Auditions this semester will be the weekend of the 12th, and more information will be forthcoming as to exact times, signups, etc., but so that you can have the most time to prepare, audition materials have already been posted!  You can find the link under "Important Links" to the right or click here.

Good luck, and make sure to visit the SPT table at Fall Frolic next Saturday from 5-7 pm!  Keep checking the blog for more info!

Spring 2014 AUDITIONS

Oh yeah, time for

AUDITIONS

Audition for Shakespeare's classic tale of love, lust, and tragedy, ☆ Romeo & Juliet ☆, and for his classic tale of a man trying to subdue a badass woman ☆ The Taming of the Shrew ☆

Auditions will be held in
Rhoads Quiet Study
Thursday, January 30th, 4pm - 8pm
Friday, January 31st, 3pm - 6pm and 7pm - 9pm

in 10 min slots available to sign up here
Callbacks Saturday, February 1st (and possibly Sunday the 2nd)

OKAY SO auditions are going to be a little different and a little more organized this time around with the 15 minute slot sign up. The last two hours of each audition day will be left for walk-ins (that is, you don't have to sign up for 6-8pm on the 30th or 7- 9pm on the 31st).

Auditions materials are in the link in the right side doobly-doo entitled "Audition Materials".
The link to slot sign-up is here! If you're auditioning with a partner, you need to select one spot for you and your partner chooses a second one (or just come to walk-ins together).

For those of you who are new to the SPT audition process of need a little refresher here is....

Things to keep in mind:
• Prepare! Read the script and practice your monologue/dialogue before auditioning.
• Come to audition whenever is best for you, but keep in mind that there might be a wait, especially during walk-ins. Bring work to do or practice your audition materials while you wait. Talk to the people waiting with you and make some new friends!
• Callbacks are for the director to see you again, and wether are not you are called back has no bearing on wether or not you will be cast in the show!
• You will be asked to perform one monologue and one dialogue. You can bring a partner to read the dialogue with you, or someone in the auditioning room will read with you.
• Fill out your audition sheet (available upon arrival to auditions) with complete honesty to assure that you are happy and comfortable with the role you are offered.

Questions? Can't make any of the times listed? Email ewwilson@brynmawr.edu or anavolio@brynmawr.edu, the directors of Romeo and Juliet, or arobins@brynmawr.edu or msmcclure@brynmawr.edu, the directors of Taming of the Shrew.
Do you want to do Technical Theater for us? Email any of the directors above with the subject "Teching for SPT". We would love to have you.

We can't wait to see you at auditions!

Elected Officials for 2013-2014 Are...

Co-coordinators: Sarah Gilmour and Angela Rosenberg
Secretary: Simon Williams

Social Activities Head: Alex Mannix
Storage Head: Lindsey Foster
Publicity Head: Kayla Bondi

This is really shaping up to be a great year with lots of positive changes and improvements to be had. If there was ever a year to join SPT, this one is it. If you have any questions regarding the Troupe they can be directed to Sarah and Angela!

~Kayla

PS: This reminds me I'm looking for an apprentice Publicity Head because I can't keep updating this blog and making the posters after I graduate so (kbondi@brynmawr.edu). Adobe Suite experience required, at least Photoshop, must be willing to bring me a donut.

The 2013-2014 Season Is....

Fall 2013
Julius Caesar

  • Directed by Abby Burlingame (aburlingame@brynmawr.edu)
  • Stage Managed by Lindsay Foster (lcfoster@brynmawr.edu)
  • Awesome

Henry IV, Parts 1 & 2

  • Directed by Rebecca Cook (rmcook@brynmawr.edu)
  • Also awesome

Spring 2014

As You Like It

  • Directed by Jess Nahigian (jnahigian@brynmawr.edu)
  • Awesome as well
It's looking like all Shakespeare, all the time for next year, and you better be excited. If you want to act in these shows, hold on to your butts until audition materials come out in late August. If you want to tech (which includes SM, ASM, costumes, makeup, building, fanning the directors, assistant directors, whatever you're good at, etc) please email any or all of the directors above for more information, and turn in a techie sheet during auditions in September.

Oh man I am so pumped to make the audition posters for the Fall. I'm thinking lots of blood? Maybe some glitter? Bow ties? Wait sorry I was describing my weekend. I'm obviously working too hard.

Have fun reading the plays over the summer because that is a thing you should do. I did it and I'm not even auditioning! Seriously, everyone's doing it. It's hot. Read the plays they're all online.

End of the Year Sads

Well, damn. The year is over and all you have to look forward to is a butt load of either nothing or a job, neither of which involve your favorite thing, Shakespeare Performance Troupe.

Lucky for you, I am in the category of having a butt load of absolutely nothing to do, so I'll hopefully be updating the blog and our various other social media outlets constantly with news about the plays for next year, my summer, my life in general, etc. Things that are really important to know if you are in SPT or want to be in SPT.

This post is really to honor our SPT seniors. We're going to miss you guys so much. I know I speak for all of the juniors when I say that you have all been staples in our college experience and when you leave, our papers are going to just go flying everywhere.

the papers represent my life
In any case, we're really going to miss you and we promise SPT will continue to thrive thanks to your leadership and love that you left us with. We love you!

On a not so sad note, keep a lookout for posts about next year's season, next year's leadership, and how bored I am! This will be the last post until after finals are over. Good luck everyone!
