It's looking like all Shakespeare, all the time for next year, and you better be excited. If you want to act in these shows, hold on to your butts until audition materials come out in late August. If you want to tech (which includes SM, ASM, costumes, makeup, building, fanning the directors, assistant directors, whatever you're good at, etc) please email any or all of the directors above for more information, and turn in a techie sheet during auditions in September.

Oh man I am so pumped to make the audition posters for the Fall. I'm thinking lots of blood? Maybe some glitter? Bow ties? Wait sorry I was describing my weekend. I'm obviously working too hard.

Have fun reading the plays over the summer because that is a thing you should do. I did it and I'm not even auditioning! Seriously, everyone's doing it. It's hot. Read the plays they're all online.

End of the Year Sads

Well, damn. The year is over and all you have to look forward to is a butt load of either nothing or a job, neither of which involve your favorite thing, Shakespeare Performance Troupe.

Lucky for you, I am in the category of having a butt load of absolutely nothing to do, so I'll hopefully be updating the blog and our various other social media outlets constantly with news about the plays for next year, my summer, my life in general, etc. Things that are really important to know if you are in SPT or want to be in SPT.

This post is really to honor our SPT seniors. We're going to miss you guys so much. I know I speak for all of the juniors when I say that you have all been staples in our college experience and when you leave, our papers are going to just go flying everywhere.

In any case, we're really going to miss you and we promise SPT will continue to thrive thanks to your leadership and love that you left us with. We love you!

On a not so sad note, keep a lookout for posts about next year's season, next year's leadership, and how bored I am! This will be the last post until after finals are over. Good luck everyone!

SPRING 2013 AUDITIONS!

It's finally that time of year again! This semester we will be holding auditions for two productions: Twelfth Night by William Shakespeare and The Women by Clare Booth Luce.

Auditions will be held Thursday, January 31st from 6PM to 9PM, and on Friday, February 1st from 5PM to 9PM in Rhoads Quiet Study. Each audition will hopefully take around 15 minutes, and you can come by whenever you want. Callbacks will be held and you will be notified of the time for that when we here at headquarters decide on it.

Audition materials can be found here (or in the link on the side doobly doo entitled Audition Materials).

Things to keep in mind:

• Prepare! Read the script and practice your monologue/dialogue before auditioning.
• Come to audition whenever is best for you, but keep in mind that there might be a wait. Bring work to do or practice your audition materials while you wait. Talk to the people waiting with you and make some new friends!
• Callbacks are for the director to see you again, and wether are not you are called back has no bearing on wether or not you will be cast in the show!
• You will be asked to perform one monologue and one dialogue. You can bring a partner to read the dialogue with you, or someone in the auditioning room will read with you.
• Fill out your audition sheet (available upon arrival to auditions) with complete honesty to assure that you are happy and comfortable with the role you are offered.
• Questions? Can't make any of the times listed? Email sgilmour@bmc, the Director of The Women, and/or ewilliam03@bmc & rholden@bmc, the Directors of Twelfth Night!
• Do you want to do Technical Theater for us? Email any or all of the directors mentioned above because we would love to have you!

Just a Winter Break Post

Ahh Winter Break! First semester is over, grades are up, and you've eaten more cookies than Alice in Wonderland by now. If you're like me, that is, jobless and bored out of your wits during the day, at this point you may be asking yourself what the heck to do before you get back to Bryn Mawr.

Shakespeare Troupe has just the thing for you! You should read the plays we're doing next semester in preparation for

Which I am not announcing yet, sorry to disappoint you. BUT you already know the shows, and you know it is common courtesy and just plain smart to read the shows before you audition for us, so here's Twelfth Night, and go find The Women at your local library.

If you don't feel like reading right now but still want to be entertained by Shakespeare Troupe related stuffs, there are really great film versions of both plays out there. Ok, ok, I know She's the Man isn't technically a film version but it is the best movie ever and you are not cool until you have seen it.

Anyway, I'll be announcing auditions soon, probably right after break ends, so keep a look out on all of our various social media things. I'll basically bomb you with the information, as you know.

Gotta Get Back To Bryn Mawr

Welp, my summer is officially over. I know most of you have a few more days left but I'm going to be actually at Bryn Mawr in about three hours. Thank god these trains have wi-fi nowadays.

Being back at Bryn Mawr means lots of exciting things for Shakespeare Troupe as well, including

I expect you all to be there to do very exciting things like edit our Bible again and talk about Comedy of Errors and probably eat food, because heck, this is Bryn Mawr we're talking about.

One of our Co-co's says there will be a SPECIAL SURPRISE for all in attendance. Awwww yisssss special surprises.

Post for Posting / Renaissance Faire Adverts / Reactiongifs

Well obviously nothing much has been happening that I can tell you about. This is just a post for the sake of posting, I suppos...t.

I've been slowly collecting and editing video for our YouTube channel (some curtain calls, and maybe some clips of a show from a couple years ago). I've made a few mock audition posters and even a mock show poster for Comedy of Errors. It is mostly just me brushing up my Photoshop skillz and messing around, but hey, it is something. Maybe I'll make lots and we can all vote on them or something.

I did go to the Bristol Renaissance Faire this weekend. It was a blast, and really got me in the mood to write in the SPT blog. If you have a Renaissance Faire in your area or somewhere you are comfortable driving to, I highly suggest it. I mean, I go every year so of course I suggest it.

This weekend was ... a little different.
