Please read through, even if you have auditioned for SPT before! Things are going to look different this semester!

BOTH SHOWS ARE OPEN TO BOTH ON-CAMPUS AND OFF-CAMPUS STUDENTS, AS THE SHOWS WILL BE VIRTUAL

IF YOU ARE ON TEMPORARY LEAVE, YOU ARE ALSO ABLE TO AUDITION FOR A SHOW

Where/When

Auditions will be held on February 10th and 11th from 5:30pm-9:30pm EST. They will be held over Zoom.

Callbacks will be held on the 13th over Zoom.
*A callback does not guarantee that you'll be cast. Likewise, you can still be cast even if you are not called back.

You may sign up for one 15-minute slot using the link below. If you are auditioning with a partner, please sign up for two back-to-back time slots.

The zoom link for your audition should be copied into your confirmation email. If not, please email one of the people listed below and they can help you.

If you cannot make auditions but want to audition, please email one of the people listed below and we can try to find a way for you to audition!

Sign up link

Audition Materials

Audition materials are at the link below. Please select ONE MONOLOGUE and ONE DIALOGUE from those provided to perform. You can choose to audition for one or both shows but your monologue and dialogue must come from two different shows, even if you are auditioning only for one.

For example, you may perform a monologue from No Exit and a dialogue from Twelfth Night, but you are not able to perform both a monologue AND a dialogue from No Exit, even if you are only interested in auditioning for that play.

Spring 2021 Materials link

Things to know for auditions this semester:

  • You do not need to have a partner to perform the dialogue, if you are auditioning alone a stage manager will read the dialogue with you.
  • Auditioning for both shows means you could be placed in either show. You will not be placed in both shows.
  • You do not need to memorize the monologue and dialogue you are performing. However, it is a good idea to prepare and practice them beforehand.
  • Feel free to arrive to your Zoom meeting a few minutes in advance in case the person ahead of you has finished early. You will be placed in a waiting room until the proteams are ready to see you.
  • Please be as honest as possible when filling out the audition form to ensure you will be comfortable in your role and available for the rehearsals that your proteam schedules.
  • A callback does not guarantee that you'll be cast. Likewise, you can still be cast even if you are not called back.

SPRING AUDITIONS 2019

☆BLOSSOM AT SPT'S SPRING 2019 AUDITIONS☆

We will be holding auditions for two shows this semester:

Marian, or the True Tale of Robin Hood

by Adam Szymkowicz

Directed by: Charis Nandor

Summary: "A gender-bending, patriarchy-smashing, hilarious new take on the classic tale. Robin Hood is (and has always been) Maid Marian in disguise, and leads a motley group of Merry Men (few of whom are actually men) against the greedy Prince John. As the poor get poorer and the rich get richer, who will stand for the vulnerable if not Robin? What is the cost of revealing your true self in a time of trouble? Modern concerns and romantic entanglements clash on the battlefield and on the ramparts of Nottingham Castle. A play about selfishness and selflessness and love deferred and the fight. Always the fight. The fight must go on." (Samuel French) Content Warnings: Sexual content

☆ FALL 2018 AUDITIONS ☆

☆WELCOME TO A NEW SEASON OF SPT: FALL 2018 ☆

We will be holding auditions for two shows this semester:

R&J

An Adaptation of Shakespeare's Romeo and Juliet

Directed by: Elizabeth Yost

A feud between two high-standing families causes political turmoil, creating a dangerous landscape in which two young women, each from one of the feuding families, fall into star-crossed love affair. In this adaptation of one of Shakespeare’s most well known works, Romeo becomes Rosaline, opening up the path for an exploration of society’s internalized homophobia, as well as criticism of arbitrary grudges in the contemporary global climate.

and

THE TEMPEST

Directed by: Caitlin Haskett

The Tempest takes place on a magical island and it tells the story of Prospero and his quest for revenge. However, we will be exploring the negative aspects of Prospero's character in this production. This production will also be a staged reading, meaning that we will be focusing on the language. The Tempest is usually staged with glitzy costumes, complex sets and special effects, but I believe the magic of the play is all there in the language if we just give it the chance to shine.

Dates and Times:

Where: Rhoads Quiet Study
When: Thursday, September 13th from 4:30-10:30 pm AND Friday, September 14th from 4:30-10:30pm
